Mind Your Word is a simple, free, and entertaining MasterMind-like game using letters instead of colors. The aim is to find the right four-letter word in the shortest period of time and using the lowest number of trials possible. The game supports up to ten languages, including Gaelic, Latin, and Swahili.
The program’s interface is terribly simple – you are given four little boxes for you to input four letters forming a word. If the word you selected is not the one the program has in mind, it will give you a white dot for each letter present in the secret word but in a different position, and a black dot for each letter that not only is part of the word you are looking for but which has also been placed in the right position. The program will not tell you, however, which letters have been awarded with a white or a black dot, only how many they are. The quicker you find the secret word and the lower the number of combinations used, the higher the score. The program supports various players, keeping separate scores for each one of them.
You can change languages at any time, and even set words for other players. Thus, you can challenge your friends and relatives, or simply play against the machine.
